Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers will have one eye on his side’s upcoming clash away to Aberdeen at Pittodrie this weekend amid his efforts to finalise some new additions before the transfer deadline.

The Irishman will hope one or two fresh faces may be available for the trip as the Hoops look to make it seven victories on the bounce across all competitions.

According to reports, Celtic are close to sealing a loan agreement for Norwich City striker Adam Idah, who could be involved on Saturday if a deal goes through before Thursday’s cut-off point.

Last weekend, Rodgers’ men laboured to a 1-0 victory over Ross County at Parkhead, with a deflected strike from Alistair Johnston in the first minute enough to seal three points for the Scottish Premiership holders.

Despite opening up a five-point lead at the top of the table, the Bhoys endured a nervy ending to proceedings as the visitors went close via Jordan White and Josh Sims in the dying stages.

Pittodrie is notoriously one of the more difficult environments to navigate in the Scottish top flight; however, Aberdeen have failed to win any of their last five league matches, making for an intriguing match-up in the North East that will get underway at 12.30 pm.

In a flash, the Dons have moved today and released a statement detailing they have parted ways with Barry Robson and his assistant Steve Agnew.

Peter Leven and Scott Anderson have been placed in temporary charge for now, with more details to follow on who could be in the home dugout opposite Rodgers.

Officiating team confirmed for Aberdeen vs Celtic

Despite Aberdeen’s loss of form, Rodgers will know that the Dons will present a real threat, signifying that Celtic will need to be at their best to claim all three points.

Steven MacLean has been appointed referee and will be charged with keeping both teams in check on the day; meanwhile, Graeme Stewart and Sean Carr will run the lines alongside providing assistance [Scottish FA official website].

Steven Kirkland is on VAR duty and will be supported by David Roome should any points of contention need a second pair of eyes. Alastair Grieve is the fourth official on this occasion.

Hopefully, the Hoops can bring three points back to Glasgow to help further their aspirations of winning a third successive Scottish top-flight crown.
