Celtic fans will remember Neil Lennon in a divisive light amid his long association with the club as both a player and manager.
The 52-year-old won ten trophies as Hoops boss over two colourful spells in the Parkhead dugout, including five Scottish Premiership titles.
Nevertheless, Lennon’s sour ending to his time in Glasgow’s east end will also live long in the memory, though time has moved on a bit since then.
Now searching for a new venture after leaving Ominia Nicosia in 2022, the Lurgan-born coach has been among the frontrunners to replace Stephen Kenny as the Republic of Ireland manager in recent months.
Of course, many Celtic supporters make the pilgrimage over from Ireland weekly to follow the team home and away, and they will have a vested interest in who steps into the vacant position at the Aviva Stadium.
Speaking live on Premier Sports Ireland over the weekend, Lennon indicated that the FAI were set to make an ‘imminent’ decision on their next leader.
He stated [cited via Irish Times]: “It is imminent, whether that be today, tomorrow, or the next couple of days. What that decision is, I don’t know myself, but I’m pretty sure that there will be a result soon. I don’t know the decision as yet.”

Former Celtic boss Neil Lennon finds out Republic of Ireland fate
According to The Irish Mirror, Lennon is now no longer in the running to become the new Republic of Ireland boss after FAI Director of Football Marc Canham contacted him to signal that he has missed out on the role.
For a long while, he was considered to be a serious candidate alongside the likes of England Under-21 coach Lee Carsley; however, Lennon will now have to look elsewhere for his next post.
It is expected that an official appointment is on the horizon for Boys in Green, though it is still yet to be revealed who will be charged with leading the side into their upcoming Nations League campaign.
The Independent claim that former Wales manager Chris Coleman is now a strong contender for the position due to his previous experience in international management.
Whoever is announced could pique the interest of Celtic supporters, given they will be responsible for Liam Scales, Adam Idah and on-loan Mikey Johnston when they are on duty in the coming months.
