Oliver Burke should be restored to Celtic side for St Mirren clash

It was a bit of a shock when Oliver Burke didn’t feature at all for Celtic against Rangers in the recent 2-1 win. Not only did he not start the game, but he didn’t even get off the bench.

That was a surprise, as the player had previously featured regularly since the arrival of Neil Lennon.

However, it would not be that much of a surprise if Burke returned to the starting line-up for Wednesday night’s clash against St Mirren.

Pace will cause St Mirren problems

His pace could cause the relegation threatened side all sorts of problems. It would also be good to see the player team up with Odsonne Edouard once more.

The pair played as the front duo against Hibernian last month, with Burke further forward. Edouard played behind Burke, which was a bit odd.

However, the roles could well be reversed against St Mirren. Burke is better when used as the man behind the striker.

Able to supply main striker

He could well supply the passes that will give Edouard the opportunity to get the ball into the net.

It remains to be seen if Burke will be at Celtic next season. It is more likely that he will return to West Brom on loan.

But whilst he is still at the club, he can play a key role in the bid for the domestic treble. He has the qualities, so he should be restored to the side.
