Oliver Burke’s poor Scotland display could end up helping Celtic

It’s fair to say that Oliver Burke, just like the rest of his Scotland team-mates, didn’t have the best of games against Kazakhstan.

Scotland were humiliated 3-0, in what has to go down as one of the worst international displays in the history of the national team.

Work in Celtic’s favour

However, in an odd way, the poor performance from Burke could end up working in Celtic’s favour.

It is well-known that Celtic would like to make Burke’s loan transfer a permanent one at the end of the season.

It has also been established that West Brom don’t want the player to leave the club. But, if there are any other suitors after Burke, they won’t have been impressed by his performance for Scotland.

Celtic will still be interested

Burke’s poor performance for Scotland won’t stop Celtic still being interested in the player though. The Hoops have seen what he can do already, scoring four goals since arriving at the club in January.

The chances are that Burke will most likely return to West Brom at the end of the season.

However, Burke’s poor performance for Scotland might have ended a few teams’ interest in the player. That can only be a good thing for the Hoops. Perhaps he could end up back at Celtic Park next season after all.
