The Olivier Ntcham comments over the weekend have seriously angered the Celtic support on social media.
There has been constant speculation over the Frenchman’s future this summer. The likes of Marseille and Porto have both been linked with a move for him. As of yet, however, Celtic have yet to receive a figure they like, as they reportedly hunt for £10million for their Frenchman (Football Scotland).
A move was close for Ntcham last summer. Porto were apparently eyeing him up (Goal), but he ended up signing a long-term deal at Parkhead (CelticFC.net). Now, however, he’s come out and stated that he wanted to leave 12 months ago. He’s also spoken to L’Equipe about how he would “blossom” at Marseille.
His comments about leaving have seriously angered the majority of Celtic fans on social media, however. Here’s a look at some of the reaction on Twitter:
Please Kindly show Olivier Ntcham the exit.

🗣 this morning coming from Olivier Ntcham:
"Games came one after another but with the respect I have for my opponents, if the level isn’t high, you don’t progress”
This is very disappointing from a player who has so much potential but in reality we haven’t seen for a season. pic.twitter.com/5nNjdQPjg6

I know he’s probably trying to force a move but these are poor comments from Ntcham, makes our league look bad and feeds foreign media who already believe the standard of league is bad when it isn’t https://t.co/5ouX92HOYH

I rate Ntcham highly, and he's potentially a very good player, but I'm struggling to remember too many stand out performances which backs up his claim that the level up here isn't good enough for him.

Was pretty obvious last summer that Ntcham had thrown his toys out of the pram after Dembele’s disagreement with 🐀. Not at all bothered if he wants to leave – cracking player on his day but that day was few and far between.

If this is a real comment, it's very disappointing from Ntcham considering his 'level' wasn't very high for most of last season.
Class player, but questions obviously now have to be asked about his temperament. 🤷🏻♂️ https://t.co/2lqYdBcJrU

We all know Ntcham is leaving, he wants to go. Fine, but he goes on our terms and Lenny must get the money to buy a replacement. HH pic.twitter.com/4DHKwwyUm9

Morning Tims 😎🍀
Thoughts on Ntcham?
Always thought this was case as some games he just didn't look interested. Time to sell and reinvest in squad.

Olivier Ntcham comments make absolutely no sense
It’s difficult to know where to even start with everything that’s wrong about Ntcham’s comments. Nobody is doubting his technical ability first and foremost. We’ve said it on many occasions that when he gets his head down, he can be the top midfielder in this league.
But the player’s head is clearly gone. L’Equipe are a reliable source too, the number one for French football in fact. Don’t bet on these quotes being misinterpreted. After all, when you read them, it’s a pretty difficult thing to twist!
First off, Ntcham believes he would “blossom” in Marseille. Well, he certainly didn’t “blossom” last season. Every time he goes to Easter Road he seems to freeze in the cauldron of an aggressive battle. The same can be said for when he plays at Ibrox too.
Two dreadful displays at St Mirren last season remain difficult to ignore, and he’s also been given a lesson by Youssouf Mulumbu at Rugby Park too the season before last. Ntcham isn’t above this league as it currently stands. He isn’t performing well enough to say that he is, and he’s clearly being challenged considering he’s been dominated on several occasions over the last year alone.
Ntcham hasn’t helped Celtic here
As for his comments on Scottish football, these words don’t help Celtic or the league. As one of the supporters said above, it fuels the idea that we’re some sort of diddy nation. The reality is, in fact, that Ntcham has struggled to stand out with the pressure and demands that playing for Celtic contains.
Also, perhaps the million dollar question should be why did he sign a new long-term contract last season? If he was so intent on leaving, he shouldn’t be continuously tying himself to Parkhead and then complaining that he wants out a couple of months later. Ntcham only has himself to blame for not currently being out the door.
He’s still an amazing talent, but Neil Lennon must question whether he’s too far gone. He’s made a few dodgy comments at this point, and Lennon seriously needs to have a chat with him asap.
As it stands, it’s looking increasingly as if Ntcham will depart before the season begins. It’s clearly the player’s wish too.
