Olivier Ntcham can return from injury on Sunday and dominate Rangers like he’s done in the past.
The Frenchman hasn’t featured for Celtic since the 1-0 defeat at Ibrox.
Despite being on the bench for the cup tie v St Johnstone, Ntcham hasn’t took to the field since his disappointing derby display.
If called upon this Sunday, Ntcham can redeem himself with another midfield masterclass against Rangers.
Arguably, Ntcham’s two best performances for Celtic have come against their bitter rivals.
In March of last year, Ntcham completely dominated the game from central midfield.
Celtic came from behind twice to win 3-2 with 10 men. Ntcham was at the heart of Celtic’s fightback. His range of passing allowed Celtic to not only keep the ball, but progress up the park with him.
The classy midfielder always seemed to have time on the ball. Rangers, despite having a man advantage for over 30 minutes, couldn’t get near him.
It was a real breakout performance, he vindicated Brendan Rodgers’s philosophy of trying to play good football in every game.
Ntcham followed up his stellar showing at Ibrox when Rangers came to Celtic Park in September.
Despite losing his close friend Moussa Dembele days prior, Ntcham looked at home in Celtic’s midfield.
It was another case of no one being able to get near him. His class on the ball was enough for Celtic to dominate Rangers all over the park.
He was rewarded with the honour of scoring the only goal of the game. His showing oozed class from start to finish.
Ntcham was not the only Celtic player to have a poor game at Ibrox in December.
However, he was certainly one of the worst. For all his previous games against Rangers, he showed nothing like his normal self.
He couldn’t keep possession nor could he drive his team on in battling conditions.
However, on his return from injury on Sunday, don’t be shocked to see him make it a hat-trick of dominant displays against Rangers.
