Neil Lennon has commented on his recent discussion with wantaway Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham, saying that the Frenchman felt his comments had come across wrong.
Ntcham caused some drama earlier this month when he suggested that he felt this summer was the right time to leave Celtic. French outlet L’Equipe had quotes from the 23-year-old and they didn’t make for pretty reading from a Hoops point of view.

Ntcham was quoted as saying: “Celtic has given me a lot, but it’s the best solution (to move on) for my development. We can do as many matches as we want but, with all due respect for my opponents, if the level in front is not high, you do not progress.
“I was really disappointed not to have gone to Porto last summer.
“What could be the perfect stage for me? A big championship: Germany, France, Spain – coming back to France would be something very, very good.”
Now Lennon has revealed that the former Genoa man feels his comments didn’t come across as intended.
The Daily Record have some recent comments from Lennon as he addressed media ahead of Celtic’s clash against Sarajevo – for which Ntcham is eligible to play.

“He was disappointed with the way it came across, that wasn’t his intention,” Lennon said.
“We have had a nice chat, a private chat, and it’s not an issue now. He is back in the group and training and getting ready for the new season.”
Does Ntcham have a future at Celtic?
Lennon’s comments may seem pretty reflective and caring but, make no mistake about it, Ntcham will have received some stern words following his actions.
The Frenchman severely disrespected the club when he made the comments and Lennon won’t stand for that. His excuse about his words being misconstrued is lousy and shouldn’t get him out of jail.

Ntcham may be back in training with his teammates but you wonder how they’ll react to his thoughts. The wider Celtic support aren’t likely to take too kindly to the comments either and there may be a statement from the Green Brigade in the not too distant future.
However, caution must be urged. Players have come back from the brink at Celtic before. Dedryck Boyata seemed dead and buried last summer only to become a key player only a few months later.
Ntcham will be hoping to do likewise. Either that or a move away.
