Footage of the first training session under new Celtic interim boss John Kennedy has emerged this morning, and fans are already noticing differences.
Kennedy was yesterday confirmed as the club’s new manager until the end of the season. With Neil Lennon gone, his former assistant will now take charge of the final eight games of the campaign.
The new era began yesterday morning with the players checking into Lennoxtown to take their first session under the new boss. And it was clear the atmosphere around the place was upbeat.
The video clip showed plenty of Celts in good spirits. The likes of David Turnbull and Odsonne Edouard clearly enjoying the session.
However, there was also plenty of ball work shown in the clip too. This was one notable difference from previous training videos. In recent weeks, Celtic have generally only posted a couple of minutes or so of the players jogging around and doing stretches at Lennoxtown.
Can’t take much away from one Celtic training session, but fans deserve to be hopeful
Supporters this week got to see a more in-depth look at a training match involving all of the first-team’s big-hitters. It looked as though it was being played at a high tempo, with plenty of energy being put into the session by Kennedy and the players.
We’re going to stop short of labelling this anything other than good shooting though. It’s unfair to look at Neil Lennon as some sort of doom and gloom merchant that only spread negativity around Lennoxtown. To come across as making an inference like that would be totally remiss considering none of us sees what goes behind the Lennoxtown gates.
But you can only go by what Celtic post. And it’s clear there was some positivity in training and plenty of ball work ahead of Aberdeen on Saturday – Kennedy’s first test.
There’s going to be plenty for Celtic fans to take from the game regardless of the performance or scoreline. It will be especially intriguing to see what Kennedy’s style of play, as well as his team selection, includes.
For now, however, supporters appeared generally optimistic after seeing the training clip:
Players looking happier then before already! Can’t wait for Saturday now https://t.co/RBnjDxQWmN

Ooft..we’re actually training with the ball and doing possession drills instead of just aimlessly jogging about ? That’ll never catch on. https://t.co/ol8P6kGZYX

Finally seeing a video with a ball at training. Rather than them jogging about a pitch https://t.co/FFYmgCkYSr

That’s the most diverse training I’ve seen them do all season in these clips. Operation Sell Kennedy to the fans in full swing.

TBF to Kennedy that looked like a good training session and how it should be. However, we need a proven first team coach.
