Open Goal panel discuss what’s ‘mad’ about Brendan Rodgers, nearly a month after Celtic exit

Dermot Desmond suggested that Brendan Rodgers had created a ‘toxic atmosphere’ at Celtic.

Yet, nearly a month after Rodgers left Celtic in an abrupt fashion, things seem to be a lot worse at Parkhead.

That was proven on Friday when Celtic’s AGM was cancelled within half an hour of it starting, after board members became sensitive to the criticism that was being aimed at them by supporters.

So much has happened since Rodgers handed in his P45, from Martin O’Neill’s return, statements, a win over Rangers, another statement, Scotland reaching the 2026 World Cup, more statements, and another international break.

But Celtic fans are yet to hear from the man himself.

When will Celtic fans hear from Brendan Rodgers?

Speaking on Open Goal, Si Ferry stated that it’s ‘mad’ that Rodgers hasn’t replied to Desmond yet, despite the public mauling.

Paul Slane, who also came through the ranks at Celtic like Ferry, suggested that it’s even more odd that Rodgers hasn’t even acknowledged the fans or the players.

You suspect a statement of some sort is around the corner, but so far, the wait goes on.

Si Ferry: “You know what’s mad, Rodgers hasn’t replied to that statement.”

Paul Slane: “He’s not come out and said anything about the fans, has he? Nor the players. He could have come out and said something about the players and the fans.”

Gordon Dalziel: “Look, see if I am getting the money he is getting? You can say anything you want about me. I would sit quietly.”

Slane: “How can that be in his contract, but Desmond can come out and cane him though?”

James McFadden: “It will be in the agreement. The terms of the termination of his contract.”

Dalziel: “You will always wait for your time, won’t you?”

Slane: “I thought he would have come out and spoken about the players and the fans.”

Jobs Rodgers has been linked with after Celtic exit

Even though fans haven’t heard from Rodgers, that hasn’t stopped the former Leicester City and Liverpool boss from being linked with other jobs.

Since leaving the champions of Scotland, these are the gigs Rodgers has been linked with, as some of them have been taken up.
