Celtic will qualify for the Champions League knockout play-offs according to Opta’s latest supercomputer predictions.
The Hoops have earned four points from their opening three league phase games so far and the results couldn’t be any more different.
Brendan Rodgers‘ side put on a Celtic Park masterclass under the lights against Slovan Bratislava to ignite their European adventure on the biggest stage with a 5-0 thumping.
But Celtic soon found out what it was like to be in the Slovakian outfit’s shoes when Borussia Dortmund handed them a painful Champions League lesson in Germany.
The Bhoys were embarrassed on the night and the 7-1 scoreline brought the side right back down to earth. But on Wednesday night, the response was excellent.
The 0-0 draw earned away to Atalanta proved Rodgers can adapt to get results and that’s exactly what was achieved.
So with Celtic currently 20th in the league phase table, where does Opta think the Glasgow giants will finish come eight games played?

Opta say Celtic will earn 11 Champions League points
Opta Analyst have predicted Celtic will earn 11 points in total after wrapping their league phase campaign against Aston Villa in January.
And with that, it should be enough to clinch a spot in the knockout play-offs with Opta saying Celtic will finish in 22nd place.
The top 24 in the table are guaranteed progression while the remaining 12 teams will be eliminated from European competition for good.
What’s next for Celtic in Champions League?
Up next are two winnable fixtures for Celtic at Parkhead against RB Leipzig and Club Brugge. Taking even just three points from those ties would be considered a success.
Anything less and the Hoops are giving themselves more of a challenge to get out of the league phase successfully.
RB Leipzig have lost all three of their Champions League games so far but do sit joint-top of the Bundesliga after seven games – it will be difficult to predict what version Celtic face come November 5.
Club Brugge have fared ever so slightly better with three points from three games. They were unlucky against AC Milan in midweek despite suffering a 3-1 defeat so they will be no pushovers.
However, with both games in Glasgow, Celtic need to get in the mindset of believing they can topple both.
