The most pointless Celtic debate of all time has reared its head again, and as usual the media are lapping it up.
Neil Lennon’s men may be going for a tenth successive Scottish league title this campaign, but once again the attention is being diverted to how we would fare in another league.
English management legend Neil Warnock is the latest man to fall into the trap, as he spoke on the BBC’s Sportsound show.

Warnock said: “If you put Celtic and Rangers down in England, you’re talking about the top six.
“Those two clubs, if they got the money that the English clubs have coming in, they would spend it.
“They’d spend it on good players and they would then compete.”
Thanks very much Neil. But it’s not exactly relevant is it?

Let’s talk about Celtic playing in Scotland
If this kind of discussion was going on during the height of our five month break from football I could see the point.
But when a new Premiership season has just kicked off in style, why do we find the need to talk about something so hypothetical?
Celtic will probably leave Scottish football one day. That’s just the way the game is going.
But for now, surely we can focus on what is actually happening, with so much to be decided between now and next May.

Warnock’s comments are appreciated, and they are also correct.
But let’s not dredge up every well-renowned English figure who has something positive to say about one or more of our clubs.
Our game has a lot more to say than that.
In other news, Celtic will have to move quickly if they want to land Sebastian Andersson on a cut-price deal.
