Read More"Outstanding"; Celtic fans applaud fine Greg Taylor display vs Hamilton
Celtic fans were happy to applaud Greg Taylor for another fine performance as his Parkhead renaissance continues.
The Hoops defeated Hamilton Academical at Parkhead in a comfortable 2-0 success tonight. Goals from Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard gave us our first victory of 2021.
Taylor, meanwhile, had been ousted by Diego Laxalt in the team during the first half of the season. This led to plenty of outings on the bench after the summer window in October [Transfermarkt]. However, after impressing in the first half against Livingston last week, he was again given the chance to build on it tonight.
The former Kilmarnock man started on fire, creating two decent openings for Odsonne Edouard. Taylor provided Celtic with a genuine outlet down the left and an end product to go with it.
Had we had our shooting boots on in the first half, the game would’ve been out of sight. Taylor was a massive part of that with his combination play on the left side. Callum Mcgregor in particular was proving to be a reliable partner for the left-back.
Celtic fans acknowledge fine Greg Taylor display
There were one or two concerning moments regarding Taylor’s ability to handle the physical battles. Marios Ogboe targeted him at times in the first 45 and got a couple of moments of joy. But he showed a lot more promise than Laxalt has in recent matches.
This could now be a real opportune time for the Scotland international to win his place back. With a couple of decent performances under his belt (granted he could’ve done more for Livingston’s second goal last week), it’s his position to lose.

He also has the added bonus of being contracted to Celtic for next season. With Laxalt due to head back to AC Milan in the summer, there’s no reason not to keep Taylor in the team for now.
Celtic’s next match comes on Saturday at home to St Mirren. Potentially, another opportunity for Taylor to get some minutes and build his confidence further.
In any case, the Hoops fans were pleased with what he delivered tonight. Here’s a look at some of the reaction to his display:
Really impressed with Greg Taylor last couple of games, even from an attacking point of view. Massive improvement.

Greg Taylor’s doing no bad for a guy that supposedly can’t go forward and has no end product 🙄

I'd like to see Celtic sign a CB and then play Ajer at RB,done more in this game with final ball than Frimpong has all season, looks very assured at RB too, Taylor looked very good too, much better than Laxalt.
