Former Celtic winger Paddy McCourt has opened up on what he feels is the difference between Neil Lennon’s spells in charge of the Hoops, whilst appearing on the Celtic Huddle podcast.
McCourt, who disclosed that he spoke to Lennon not long ago about the signing of Shane Duffy, feels that the manager seems to be far more mature and relaxed than he was in his first spell of Hoops boss.
“Everybody’s in it together”
“I spoke to Lenny a few months ago for the first time in a few years, just regarding Shane. He seems a much more relaxed manager, he seems a lot more experienced. Even in his interviews, he’s always backing the players, he’s always sticking up for his players. Everybody’s in it together. He’s really matured as a manager” McCourt said, whilst appearing on the Celtic Huddle podcast.
McCourt, a Hoops cult hero, has an interesting viewpoint on the Lennon situation, as he was part of the Celtic side when Lennon was manager of the Hoops first time around.
It isn’t really a surprise that Lennon has matured since McCourt worked with him. He has had jobs at Bolton and Hibs, he knows a lot more about what being a manager is about since he was in his first spell at Celtic.
Backing up players is sensible move
Backing up the players is useful, especially at a club like Celtic. When the Hoops don’t win a game, it is panic time. That is why Lennon backing the likes of Shane Duffy is the right thing to do. Hopefully the Hoops man is able to respond to that backing sooner rather than later.

As McCourt says, everyone seems to be in it together at Celtic. That can only be a good thing, this season more than any other. With the Hoops going for 10 in a row, there can’t be any distractions. The club must unite as one.
Thankfully Neil Lennon seems to have recognised that. Lennon might have matured and relaxed, but you can bet that he is still full of desire to see Celtic win 10 in a row.
In other news, Hibs will fear facing Mo Elyounoussi at Easter Road on Saturday.
