Celtic cult hero Paddy McCourt has reached out on social media to send a pair of signed boots to a lucky Celtic fan.
The mercurial winger once delighted supporters with his mazy runs and wonder goals in a Celtic shirt and has maintained a good relationship with fans ever since.
Speaking regularly at Celtic events, following the club’s results and communicating regularly on social media, he’s a prominent former player.
He used his reach to declare he’d send a pair of boots he’d found out to a fan after an anxiety-inducing few days in society.
Found an old pair of boots in the garage yesterday, if anyone wants them I’ll sign them & send them to you . Hopefully it’ll cheer someone up after a pretty depressing few days for us all 👍.

Hundreds of responses followed and today McCourt picked out one young fan who’s had a hard time with illness, with the boots either being sent directly to the family or auctioned off to raise money.
Thanks for all the messages regarding the boots , a lot of worthy causes without doubt but I’m going to send them here to this young lad & his family. Feel free to do with them what you see fit 🍀🙌. Can you send me a DM with your address & I’ll post them on Monday. Thanks https://t.co/wXE5i1qaUh

Clearly McCourt was not just a class act on the field but is also one off of it, going out of his way to cheer up supporters and make one family’s day.
Now a Technical Director at Derry City after working with the club’s academy talents, McCourt is entering a new stage of his professional football career.
Apparently though, he’s not forgotten the adulation he received from Celtic supporters during his spell at the club.
Despite never quite becoming a regular starter, his cameo appearances and some of his goals live long in the memory, such as his incredible solo effort against St Mirren or even his incredible dribble and finish in a friendly against St Pauli.
Nice one Paddy!
