Jonjoe Kenny left the Celtic supporters both amused and bemused as we woke up to the sight of him scoring a “Panenka” last night.

Kenny spent six months on loan at Parkhead in an ill-fated spell. The Everton right-back couldn’t have arrived at a worse time with the club in total turmoil under both Neil Lennon and then John Kennedy.

The Englishman managed to win his first five consecutive games at the Hoops, but it all went downhill from there. Dreadful mistakes such as poor back passes and a derby own goal meant Kenny left Glasgow without much of a hero’s sendoff.

He also proved to be poor with regards to his individual performance levels overall. Despite clearly starting well and looking like a forward-thinking full-back, Kenny ended up being weak defensively, consistently caught out of position, and negative when on the ball.

Yet, last night, he was featuring under Rafa Benitez in the Florida Cup and came up with a moment of brilliance.

Taking a penalty in the pre-season friendly tournament, he decided to go for the chip as Everton overcame Colombian side Millonarios 10-9 on penalties. Watch it for yourself below:

Kenny has incredibly been linked with a potential move to Arsenal this summer [Daily Mail]. Another piece of news that Celtic fans would’ve been rubbing their eyes at. However, instead he remains part of the Toffees’ pre-season plans ahead of the new season.

It’s highly unlikely that he ends up making their first-team squad for the new campaign. Even more unlikely that he ends up back at Parkhead at any point in his career from now on.

Even so, Celtic fans couldn’t help but be left bewildered by Kenny’s piece of class last night. Given how poor he was in Glasgow, there was certainly plenty of reaction from the Hoops faithful:
