Celtic left it until near the full-time whistle to secure a much-needed victory over Ross County in the Scottish Premiership following a tough week.

The Bhoys looked to be in danger of dropping points in the Highlands, which could’ve gifted away top spot in hindsight amid Aberdeen’s victory over Hearts in the afternoon kick-off.

Despite the thought of ceding ground at an early stage, Nicolas Kuhn sealed Celtic’s win over Ross County with a dramatic strike three minutes from time to send the away support into raptures.

Alistair Johnston set the wheels in motion to turn the tide after his equaliser with just under 15 minutes to go, but Kuhn stole the show after his dazzling run and finish, which has taken his tally to five goals and eight assists in ten appearances this term.

Undoubtedly, the 24-year-old is flavour of the month among the Celtic support, and Pat Bonner has crystallised why the German winger deserves every ounce of admiration he is receiving for his recent performances.

Nicolas Kuhn’s ‘very good’ Celtic position under Brendan Rodgers

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, Bonner believes Kuhn’s Celtic career is in a ‘very good place’ and signalled his sympathy for the winger during his frustrating time of things on the pitch when the Bhoys went down 7-1 in Dortmund last week.

He explained: “He has the quality, he’s got the pace, he’s got the finishing power and all of those things at this moment in time has put him in a very, very good position as a Celtic player.

“He’s just got to keep it going; I think he struggled a little bit in the European game against Dortmund maybe because he was asked to play in almost a winger position when he maybe should’ve been tucked in a little bit to do a different type of role.

“He wouldn’t have had much space, but when he has that space to operate in, you can’t stop him; he can go on the outside, he can go on the inside, and that is the ability of a good winger. When they have that finish in them when they can score a goal, a critical goal I’ve got to say.

“If Celtic had have dropped something here, it would’ve been a bad week for them, but they’re got away with it and they can now get themselves ready for the next big game coming up and that’s what it’s about. They have such an amount of games now that they have to rely on everybody.”

Nicolas Kuhn is proving he is worth Celtic fee

Last season, questions did start to arise in Kuhn’s first months after becoming a £3.5 million Celtic signing after he initially failed to set the heather alight at Celtic Park.

Spending time in and out of the side wasn’t a fair reflection on his abilities, especially with James Forrest’s renaissance towards the back end of last term, which coincided with the Bhoys claiming a domestic double.

Defying early setbacks, Kuhn has overcome illness at Celtic brought on via dental surgery and weight loss to establish himself with a run of consistent performances that go back as far as early pre-season.

Coupling his goals, the former Germany Under-20 international has created 14 chances and completed 13 successful dribbles on Scottish Premiership duty.

You get the impression this is only the start of what is to come from Kuhn at Celtic. Hopefully, he can continue to shine and maintain consistency.
