Celtic’s recent signing Patryk Klimala has revealed that he is already working on improving his English. The £3.5 million signing from Jagiellonia Białystok will be charged with helping the Hoops win the league title.
With that in mind, he is already learning English to communicate with his new teammates.
Indeed, he revealed to the Scotsman that he started the lessons before he moved to Celtic.
“Overcome it soon”
“I only started learning English maybe two or three months ago. I understand maybe 80-90 percent of what is being said but in terms of communication, hopefully I will overcome it soon” Klimala said, as quoted by the Scotsman.
That is a very smart move by Klimala. It showed that he was already thinking of his next move whilst at Bialystok. Communication on the pitch is very important, especially when you are playing with many nationalities.
For example, there is a very good chance that he will be playing alongside a Frenchman – Odsonne Edouard at times this season.
Could soon form partnership with Frenchman
How the duo communicate on the park will be vital to setting the tone for any partnership between the pair, and it is a promising sign that the player understands so much of what is being said already.
That is why it is a good thing that the player is already a few months into learning English, in what is the biggest career change for the player. Perhaps that is one of the reasons that Neil Lennon was so eager to sign the player, his commitment to learning English.
Klimala could well have a big part to play for Celtic between now and the end of the season. His ability to communicate with his teammates will be important to that.
That is why his decision to learn English before moving to Celtic was a smart one, and a move that could pay dividends for the player.
