Celtic great Paul Lambert has been left extremely impressed with what he’s seen from Ange Postecoglou so far.
The Greek-Australian has managed to turn around the mood at the football club in recent times. Not only has he overseen an incredibly productive transfer window, but he’s putting his own stamp on the football being played.
So much so that Celtic already look a far better side than last year. There’s a growing confidence surrounding the club that big things are just around the corner as this exciting project continues.

And Lambert has been left with nothing but positive thoughts on the new man who’s taken everyone by surprise.
As quoted by the Scottish Sun, Lambert said: “I think the manager has been brilliant, I really do. He’s handled the club so well in the way he’s done things and he’s been a breath of fresh air with the way he’s gone about the job. Before last season this club had had nine years of winning pretty much everything.
“There’s been that transitional period when last year things didn’t go their way. But they will come back again and if they start winning trophies he’ll love it here. I think it’s just about having time now.
“The good thing is Celtic are up there in the league and only three points behind Rangers, which is nothing. It’s still so early in the season too. One of their best players in Kyogo Furuhashi isn’t fit, some guys are making their debuts and you could see them taking cramp against Ross County, which is normal. The club has been through a lot of transition, but there’s a lot of good stuff out there for Celtic right now.”
The positive signs are still bursting out of Celtic under Postecoglou
If you’re to look at Celtic’s results under Postecoglou at face value, you could be forgiven for thinking it’s been a mixed bag. Yet the confidence surrounding the club doesn’t suggest that.
Damaging defeats to Hearts and Rangers haven’t been as painful as they may be in six months’ time, for example. The reason? Celtic fans are just delighted to see their side playing some exciting football once again.
The Hoops support allowed itself to see through the disappointments in the early stages under Ange. They knew there was something big brewing at the football club, and there still is.

You can’t say that this Celtic team isn’t one that excites you. Their home form has given supporters an indication of what to expect on a consistent basis when they start clicking on their travels.
On Thursday night, the Hoops have a mightily tough match in Real Betis. That contest will be yet another barometer of where Celtic are under the manager. But regardless of that, we know for certain this is a much-improved team on last season.
Given the monumental job that faced the club over the summer, you can see why so many have taken to Postecoglou. It’s early stages, but he’s proven to be anything but daunted by the challenge.
