Celtic have already made some additions to the first-team squad this summer. Odin Thiago Holm, Marco Tilio and the permanent signing of Tomoki Iwata have helped to add more depth to the squad.
But the recent injuries this week to Tilio, Alistair Johnston and Mikey Johnston have convinced former Celtic player, Peter Grant, that the club will continue to dip into the market and add more bodies to the squad.
But not only that, Grant has highlighted three ‘vital’ areas that Brendan Rodgers will look to strengthen before the window closes.
Grant said [Go Radio Football Show], “I think that will happen. I think you’re always looking for that pressure on the strikers up front. The way they are talking just now, they’ve had a couple of injuries, and that’s what you don’t need.
“And we felt Rangers was short on that last year, the squad they had through injuries, whatever they had. And we felt Celtic were very strong in that department.
“And I think that’s what we have got to continue. And it’s not nice for players to be sat on a bench for sure. But you’ve got to make sure you get the best players available to you. And I think they’ll bring, maybe right down the centre of the pitch.
“You know, maybe a striker, you’re talking about centre-back and the goalkeeper because they are such vital areas in any top team.”

Kyogo and Hyeongyu Oh both need extra competition and the team needs extra cover up top. To go into the new season with just two strikers is not a good move. Indeed, Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda are both able to play up front but they are more effective coming in off the wing.
The Joe Hart scenario is one that is well-documented. With a year left on his contract, I believe the big Englishman has done enough to secure at least another year.
The centre of defence was left exposed when Cameron Carter-Vickers was ruled out towards the end of last season. The last thing we need is another injury to either him or Carl Starfelt as what we have in reserve, from what we have seen of them, don’t look up to it.
Of course, Brendan Rodgers will know this. The Celtic manager will be well-versed in the strengths and weaknesses of the team and I am sure he is already taking steps to ensure we go into the new season as strong as we possibly can.
