As usual, the pre-match build-up to Celtic’s Premier Sports Cup final against Rangers this weekend has produced plenty of talking points.
With every word said by Brendan Rodgers or Philippe Clement played on by the media, there is a tantalising feel in the air ahead of events at Hampden tomorrow.
Both sides are desperate for silverware, and winning the Premier Sports Cup can often be the first step on the road to further success in the campaign.

Nevertheless, Rodgers took issue with Clement on Celtic and Rangers’ financial reality after the Belgian insisted the Bhoys are in a ‘different league’ compared to his outfit.
Well, within his rights, the Irishman pointed out that every penny his club spends has been earned, while some would also urge his adversaries to look a little closer to home.
Either way, Peter Grant has backed up Rodgers in his latest war of words ahead of both sides meeting tomorrow.
Peter Grant rubbished Philippe Clement financial claims
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, Grant made it clear that nobody made an issue of financial divergence when Rangers were spending more than Celtic during the 1990s.
He explained: “I agree with 100 per cent. Nobody said anything when Souness came in in 1986/87 or through the 90s.
“Never once, when we lost to Rangers or whatever, did anyone say it was financially because they were stronger.
“They had better players, big players. The captain of England came in at the time. Financially, they were on a different planet from us, but every game you take them on you can give them a punch in the nose, and we did that at times.”
Celtic don’t need to concern themselves with external noise
While others debate every aspect of both clubs, there is no point in Rodgers or anyone in the Celtic dressing room concerning themselves with matters out of their control.
Simply put, the Bhoys will be focused on claiming their first piece of silverware this season at Hampden tomorrow. Nothing else will come into their thinking; why should it?
All eyes will be on developments in Glasgow’s southside tomorrow. Now, Celtic are tasked with delivering in front of a sizeable support who make the trip with high expectations.
