The possible return of Steven Gerrard to Rangers has seen all sorts of wild accusations made about Celtic running scared.
The Gerrard hype is simply born out of the one title he won to stop Celtic winning ten-in-a-row back in 2021.
The COVID season was an outlier for both Celtic and Rangers in that the Parkhead club imploded and Gerrard’s side found out that they could actually win a title if no fans were inside Ibrox or at any other stadium in Scotland.
And as the former Liverpool man’s return to Ibrox to face Celtic again seems imminent, Peter Grant slaps down the Gerrard hype superbly.

Peter Grant tells Rangers Celtic are not ‘quaking in their boots’ about Gerrard
Grant was speaking about the imminent arrival of Gerrard to Rangers when it was put to the Celtic hero by Paul Cooney that his return would not have the Hoops running scared.
Cooney said on The Go Radio Football Show [56m 31s], “But for Celtic, I wonder what the effect is going to be of this. And I heard you say in the first hour, if it’s Steven Gerrard, they’re not going to be quaking in their boots.”
Grant: “No, because why would you?
Cooney: “They’re not going to be anyway.”
Grant: “At the end of the day, you’re going out to play as a football player. I never cared. I couldn’t tell you who the Rangers manager was when I played.
Cooney: “I bet you could have.”
Grant: “But I wasn’t being disrespectful. I wasn’t wondering who it was. It was all about… Remember Sooners came and all that. We knew they had top players.
“So at the end of the day, we know we have to perform to try and beat them. And we knew that.
“So there was no getting away from that at that particular time. Celtic have obviously looked across and seen what’s going on, of course. You’re kidding yourself on if you say completely different on that.
“But the bottom line is Celtic have got good players.”

Even Tom English doesn’t buy the Gerrard/Celtic nonsense
Celtic fans have listened to Rangers fans crowing about Gerrard for a number of days whilst forgetting that they were calling for his head after Hamilton beat them 1-0 at Ibrox before the COVID lockdown.
And that fact is not lost on BBC journalist Tom English who reminded the Ibrox support, “They have a memory of him winning the league, and it was a very impressive league. But there were no fans there, and Celtic were having their own existential crisis at the time under Neil Lennon.
“And Rangers ran away with the league and didn’t lose a game and then motored through the finishing line. That’s what they remember.
“They don’t remember the bad times under Steven Gerrard. They don’t remember getting knocked out. They won one trophy in his three and a bit seasons.
“He got knocked out of cups by St Mirren, St Johnstone, Aberdeen and other teams you would maybe expect them to beat. So I think there’s a little rose-tinted glasses being put on when Rangers fans talk about Gerrard.”
Brutally bang on the money by the BBC man and that’s what Celtic fans have been saying for years.
