Peter Grant has weighed in on the Celtic fans booing of Kasper Schmeichel and told them that it’s ‘not helping’ the Hoops goalkeeper.
Schmeichel had a horrific performance in Celtic’s defeat to Stuttgart in the Europa League on Thursday night, and Grant was clearly disappointed to hear the boos ringing out at Parkhead.
Grant told The Go Radio Football Show, “It’s never nice, Paul. I’ve been there myself and it doesn’t matter. You say it doesn’t affect you. Of course it does. There is no doubt of that. And it doesn’t help.
“You know, you’re having a bit of a stinker. And to be fair, I thought he did [vs Stuttgart]. And his experience as well.

Is this the right call? Let us know in the comments.
“And not just on that, you know, there was things, decisions he made for his experience. You see Stuttgart pushing four up and still trying to play out. Then he’s going long.”
Grant says Celtic boos must ‘be terrible’ for Schmeichel
The boos caused a lot of division online among Celtic fans as some strongly disagree with the action. And Grant says hearing them must have been ‘terrible’ for Schmeichel.
Grant continued, “Listen, he’s been in the game a long time now. His character, he’s had some unbelievable saves. And I’ll go back to even the Livingston game.
“Celtic were 1-0 up, and he had the best save of the first half. He had a wonderful save.
“And he’s produced things like that. But the thing is with him, he’s got to make sure he uses the experience in the right way. And I thought he didn’t do that in the game.
“I 100% agree, it’s not easy. It must be terrible for a goalkeeper.”
Kasper Schmeichel starts for Celtic vs Hibs
Despite his poor performance, Schmeichel starts for Celtic against Hibs as Martin O’Neill names his starting XI.
The reaction to that call has been huge online as many Celtic fans cannot believe the big Dane got the nod.
However, for Schmeichel, this gives him the perfect opportunity to put in a performance to redeem himself.
But if another mistake costs Celtic against David Gray’s men, there will be no hiding place for Schmeichel or Martin O’Neill for that matter.
