Pictures: Celtic players prepare for Lazio clash

Celtic geared up for their blockbuster Europa League clash against Lazio with a training session on Wednesday.

Neil Lennon’s side go into the Thursday fixture top of Group E and they know that three points against the Italian giants will increase their chances greatly of making it to the last 32 of the Europa League for the third successive season.

Cameras were allowed into the training session, as is often the case prior to European matches. So here’s three things we noticed from Wednesday’s training.

The players are smiling

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out that the Celtic squad are in good spirits at present. We may have dropped points in two important league matches prior to the international break but the players seem to have put that behind them pretty quickly.

The smiles were evident in the 6-0 humbling of Ross County at the weekend but they were also there for all to be seen during Wednesday’s session.

Spirits are clearly high at the club and Neil Lennon is building a motivated squad who are all with each other. Can you imagine what it will be like if we win a trophy.

Jonny Hayes wasn’t happy about something

The Republic of Ireland international was clearly having the mick taken out of him in some shape or fashion. While the details of exactly what went on are unclear, Hayes was obviously part of some training drill and came off second best.

Scott Brown was, unsurprisingly, involved as well.

Neil Lennon still likes to get involved

The Hoops boss may be 48-years-old, and unable to play in high-octane fixtures like Thursday night’s, but he still likes to get involved from time to time. We don’t often get to catch a glimpse of Celtic training but it’s very clear from this snapshot that the Celtic manager takes more than a passing interest.

That hunger never really goes away.
