Player who ‘has not let Celtic down’ told he won’t start vs Hibs in the Scottish Cup

Celtic’s quest for a treble continues today against Hibs in the Scottish Cup.

With the league title all but wrapped up, Brendan Rodgers is looking to claim what is set to be his eleventh trophy as the Celtic manager if he can take the Bhoys to another Hampden final this season.

However, Hibs currently stand in Celtic’s way, and as the Edinburgh club prepares for their Parkhead trip, Rodgers will be looking to pick the side that takes him past David Gray’s side and to another date at the national stadium.

One Hoops player, though, has been told that despite being a reliable option for Rodgers, he is unlikely to start in the Scottish Cup quarter-final clash at Celtic Park.

Brendan Rodgers to start ‘strongest midfield’ three vs Hibs

Talking about the big game, pundits Gordon Dalziel and Hugh Keevins were conversing who should start in Celtic’s midfield, considering the strength Rodgers has to choose from.

The discussion on Superscoreboard [33m] started with Hugh Keevins asking if Luke McCowan would start for Celtic vs Hibs after he pointed out ‘he did some job’ against St Mirren last weekend.

Responding to that, Gordon Dalziel said, “Yeah, yeah, listen, he’s not let Celtic down, but he’s [Brendan Rodgers] got to look at this Hibs side and treat them with such respect tomorrow. I think he’ll start with the strongest midfield.”

Keevins: “Like McGregor, Hatate and Engels?”

Dalziel replied, “Yeah, yeah, for me, all day.”

Luke McCowan’s impressive Celtic stats since big summer move

McCowan arrived at Celtic in a transfer deadline day move last summer and his impact at the club has been excellent.

With most of his appearances coming from the Celtic bench, Dalziel is correct: McCowan has never let the club down.

Whilst Dalziel has a point, McCowan offers a solid option from the bench and should he either start or be used as a sub, one thing is for sure, the former Dundee captain will most definitely not let Celtic down.
