Ange Postecoglou will take his Celtic side to Japan this summer to face his former side Yokohama F. Marinos, according to reports.

Chat about Celtic travelling to Japan at the start of next season has been prevalent in recent months, but we’ve not had any real details come to light until today.

Japanese outlet Nikkan Sports have today released an article which will interest Celtic supporters.

Translated, it reads: “Plans are afoot for European giants Manchester City and Celtic to play last season’s J1 champions Yokohama in July.”

The report explains that the J League are planning to hold a match between Yokohama F. Marinos and Manchester City in late July, with Celtic also due to play the Japanese champions.

The article also details that it is not yet clear whether Celtic and Manchester City will face each other in Japan.

Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain were also mentioned in the original report, while Celtic are also said to be keen to visit South Korea on their travels. (Scottish Sun)

A match against F. Marinos would be a reunion for Postecoglou as well as Hoops players Daizen Maeda and Tomoki Iwata.

A match against Manchester City could also see Joe Hart face his former side. So it could be a tasty summer ahead, even before we get in to the proper stuff.

Yokohama F. Marinos and Manchester City are both part of the City Football Group, so it is interesting to see getting involved in their plans this summer.

Celtic last visited Japan in 2006, when we also faced F. Marinos, losing 3-0.

Bring it on we say.
