Celtic could be the recipients of an unexpected transfer window. If the Hoops have played their cars right, the windfall may revolutionise their transfer window.
L’equipe, as cited by the Daily Record, are reporting that Manchester United are interested in signing Moussa Dembele.
The report claims that United have contacted Dembele’s current club Lyon in regard to signing the player in the summer. It also claims that the Hoops have a sell-on clause in any transfer that involves Dembele.
Sell-on clause has worked before
Inserting a sell-on clause has worked to the club’s advantage before. They made money from Virgil Van Dijk’s move from Southampton to Liverpool.
Should the same happen again with Dembele it could have a big impact on Celtic’s summer transfer budget.
Big difference to budget
Should the Hoops land a windfall of around eight to 10 million pound it could revolutionise their transfer strategy.
The next permanent boss would find himself with a lot of money to spend. That is a good thing, as the Hoops are in need of a number of new signings.
Of course, this all depends on Dembele moving in the summer. If he stays at Lyon, the Hoops will miss out on any windfall, for the time being.
However, the fact that Manchester United have reportedly contacted Lyon does suggest that there could be some merit in the story. Only time will tell.
