Premier Sports make disappointing decision regarding Celtic vs Falkirk

Premier Sports have refused to sell the TV rights for this weekend’s clash between Celtic vs Falkirk, meaning Pass to Paradise holders won’t see the match live.

It had been hoped that Celtic would’ve been able to buy the rights and provide season-ticket holders with a live stream. However, Premier Sports, who own the sole rights for the Scottish Cup in the UK and Republic of Ireland, are said to have rejected the offer.

Earlier this season, Celtic managed to secure the rights from Premier Sports to broadcast the Betfred Cup game vs Ross County free to Parkhead season-ticket holders. This was done via the Premier Sports Player.

But that won’t be the case this time around. Celtic had looked to strike a deal with the TV company. However, Celtic’s Supporter Liason Officer has confirmed the bad news:

Premier Sports simply refusing to budge; Celtic can’t be blamed for Falkirk snub

This would’ve been a nice touch from all involved. Celtic fans haven’t had added value from their season tickets all season, so it would’ve been a boost had this game been free to watch for them.

It’s a touch disappointing, but Celtic can’t be blamed. They’ve gone to Premier Sports to try and cut a deal. It appears this is down to the TV company and TV company alone. Considering they own the rights, of course, they’re perfectly entitled to make the decision they feel is the correct one.

The game will of course still be streamed on Celtic TV for viewers outside of the UK and Republic of Ireland. But as is the norm for cup games, Celtic fans based here are having to fork out extra.

Celtic will be hoping to secure the Scottish Cup for an incredible fifth consecutive occasion. John Kennedy will also be looking to win his first trophy in management, whilst Scott Brown will be hunting a fitting send-off.

The game will kick-off at 7:30pm on Saturday evening.

In other news, two promising Lennoxtown youngsters were in action earlier today, and you can still watch them online.
