Premier Sports to show Cluj vs Celtic clash

Premier Sports have finally broken their silence and confirmed that they will show Cluj vs Celtic on Wednesday.

Many Hoops supporters were fearful that they would struggle to watch the Champions League clash after an eerily long silence from the broadcasters. Premier came in for criticism after failing to secure the rights for Celtic’s away clash against Nomme Kalju last week.

But they won’t be making the same mistake this time round as they confirmed the news by replying to a disgruntled Hoops fan on Twitter.

Premier Sports haven’t endeared themselves to Celtic fans

It seems a bit bizarre for the broadcasters not to be openly publicising the fact they have the game. The fact they waited for a Celtic fan to criticise them before revealing that they’d be showing the game is a little strange at best.

Thankfully, this is the final round of qualifiers that aren’t televised by usual rights holders BT Sport. They hold the rights for the Champions League from the Playoff round onwards. That means that both potential ties against Slavia Prague would be on the channel.

Premier could still be back in the game if Celtic drop into the Europa League Playoff round. But after that, every match in that competition is on BT too.

Celtic take on Cluj on Wednesday evening. Kick-off in Romania is at 7pm Scottish time.
