Although we haven’t yet had confirmation from the SPFL and SFA regarding next weekend’s round of fixtures, it’s increasingly looking like Celtic will be playing St Mirren as planned.
As you’ll be well aware by now, this weekend’s match at home to Livingston was postponed as a result of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, with the SPFL stating they would be updating on further potential postponements once details of the funeral were made public.
It has since been confirmed that the funeral will take place on Monday 19th September.

The Scottish Mail on Sunday [11/09 print edition, back page] reported this morning that it is anticipated that football will return next weekend ahead of that.
Meanwhile, the National League in England has already confirmed they will progress with their fixture card over the next seven days.
A statement said: “Following the postponement of fixtures on Saturday 10 September – The National League would like to issue the following update.
“The League can confirm that further to the announcement that the funeral for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be held on Monday 19 September, National League fixtures for week commencing Monday 12 September will go ahead as scheduled.
“Clubs, for all fixtures up until the funeral, will observe a one-minute silence prior to the game and will wear black armbands as a mark of respect to Her Majesty.”
That’s obviously a separate decision to what the SPFL, English Football League and Premier League may end up doing, but it’s a decent signal we’ll be returning to normality when it comes to football.

Of course, Celtic will be playing away to Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Champions League regardless on Wednesday night, which takes place in Warsaw, Poland.
So we’ll have at least one match to look forward to ahead of the upcoming international break, if not two.
