A new twist has occurred involving the Timothy Weah/PSG situation.
According to ESPN, PSG aren’t looking to actively sell the striker. That was despite reports last week claiming that the USA international didn’t have a future anymore in Paris.
This doesn’t mean that Weah can’t be sold. ESPN believe that offers will be listened to, but that Weah’s departure isn’t something that the Ligue 1 champions are looking to push through.

Weah only last week left Celtic just days before the Glasgow derby defeat to Rangers. Celtic were therefore woefully short of options down the left. You have to wonder if Neil Lennon regretted letting Weah leave so prematurely.
Despite that, the striker has stated since that he would be open to a return to Glasgow. Despite the fact he’s sure to attract suitors, it was positive to see that he isn’t keen on closing the door on a return to Parkhead.
Could this be a blessing in disguise?
And this fresh news of PSG not overly looking to sell could work in Celtic’s favour. Whilst the Hoops can’t match the English Premier League in terms of wages or transfer fees, a loan deal could still work for both Celtic and Weah respectively.

Weah may have made only four starts with Celtic, but a return would surely see him given more opportunities.
The striker is of course contracted until 2021. Therefore, PSG are in no position to force selling him on the cheap. They have the security of a further two years after this, and that could put suitors off the striker for now.
Any Celtic interest, however, will surely be affected by the fact we don’t currently have either a permanent manager or Head of Recruitment. The Hoops are in revamp when it comes to the backroom staff this summer, and that could put us at a disadvantage.

It also remains to be seen how PSG view our treatment of Weah this season. His stat of just four starts may not read well for the French heavyweights. They could also wish to push him out to a bigger league.
But the fact they may not actively be looking to sell could give us a real chance at nabbing him.
