There has been a lot of talk in Scottish football circles over what Celtic’s victory over Aberdeen last night could mean concerning the destination of the Scottish Premiership title.

Despite the dreary conditions present at Pittodrie, the Bhoys narrowly edged out Aberdeen to further their aspirations of claiming a fourth successive league crown.

Reo Hatate delivered the decisive blow, latching onto Greg Taylor’s clipped through ball before dispatching past Ross Doohan with minimal fuss.

Defensively, Celtic’s pairing of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Auston Trusty tamed Aberdeen’s attack, even if the former had to bail out his colleague in the dying embers to deny Ester Sokler an equaliser.

However, the reigning Scottish Premiership champions held on to move seven clear of their closest challengers, leading Lee Miller to draw his own conclusions from the affair.

Lee Miller can’t see anyone stopping Celtic lifting the title

Speaking on Sportsound, pundit Miller believes nobody can compete with Celtic at this moment in time and predicted that they will go on to seal the title this season.

He said when prompted: “I think so, I just can’t see past Celtic. Like Cillian said, the strength in depth in their squad, they’re not feeling sorry for themselves. they’re coming out and they know they need to be up to speed to compete for positions.

“It’s competition for places, it’s not as if one goes out, one goes in and it’s not the same strength. Their quality throughout their team, and you look at their bench.

“They can turn it within minutes, and I think they’re just so strong, I don’t think anyone can compete with them in the league.”

Celtic not getting complacent despite win over Aberdeen

Notably, Brendan Rodgers has said Celtic aren’t getting complacent in the title hunt despite having the potential to move ten points clear of Aberdeen amid their game in hand.

The Irishman said: “There are 38 games so it’s nowhere near done. I understand people will look at it that way but for us there’s such a long way to go. We’re trying to get through the games, play well, but there’s no thought of that in the players’ minds.”

Supporters can take confidence from his words. The Bhoys are probing to make sure they build as much of an advantage as possible, but they aren’t counting on their rivals faltering any time soon.

This is the mentality the fanbase want at the club. Titles aren’t won in December, so the mission remains the same when Hibernian travel to Parkhead on Saturday!
