Queens Park Rangers boss Mark Warburton has been speaking about Celtic linked Bright Osayi-Samuel.

As we told you yesterday, the youngster is reportedly interesting the Hoops this summer and could be brought in to provide some competition for James Forrest.

Any move for the 22-year-old seems far off at present, but speculation of Osayi-Samuel leaving Loftus Road has been rife.

And Warburton admits that he’s come across those rumours, as he moved to play them down.

“Bright is a QPR player, he has trained very well this week, I read some of the media columns and just laugh,” he told local London paper the Kilburn Times.

“Bright Osayi-Samuel rules himself out for the weekend, really? It’s just media and speculation, it sells a line and a story.

“We’ve got a tight squad, Bright is an important player, and I’m looking forward to him performing on the weekend.”

Warburton comments suggest Osayi-Samuel is far from out the door

The Nigerian born youngster played 37 league games for the London side last season – netting five goals and picking up nine bookings.

He is out of contract next summer (transfermarkt.co.uk), so the Hoops recruitment team may feel they can get the player on a cut-price deal.

QPR can play hardball over a fee all they want but, given that Osayi-Samuel can sign a pre-contract in a matter of months, the advantage very much lies with his suitors.

However, Warburton’s comments suggest Osayi-Samuel isn’t finished at QPR just yet.

Neil Lennon will surely be looking to bring in a right-winger this summer, given that Marian Shved has already left the club.

James Forrest is our only real option wide right and, while Ryan Christie has also played out there, many feel we need to bring in a new recruit.

Time will tell whether the boss does so before October 5th.
