Rafa Benitez turned down offers to speak to Marseille and Roma about being their new boss, according to the Chronicle.
There will be some Celtic fans taking great spirit from that, thinking he’s heading north.
However, it may be the case that Peter Lawwell and co haven’t actually asked the question.
Benitez still has to sort out his mess with Newcastle and there is no time scale on that.
Hoops fans will need to wait just that bit longer to find out what’s happening next.
Rafa Benitez turns down Marseille and Roma
The Chronicle report that the Spaniard politely declined the approaches from the world giants.

He did so out of respect to his current club who are still in talks to reach a new deal.
He met with board members last week but was unable to fathom any early proposals.
The meetings are continuing, but as of yet there has been no results.
Celtic are idly waiting by to see if there are any other opportunities which could open up.
The Hoops are constantly linked with Benitez, but the club has been silent on the future manager’s job.
There will be fans urging Lawwell and co to go for the former Champions League and La Liga winner.

This said, fans need to realise there will be no movement on that front until at least Monday.
New Celtic manager after cup final
It’s only logical for the club to announce the new manager after the conclusion of the season.
Revealing anytime now would be detrimental to the side.

Believe it or not, Neil Lennon is still on the shortlist and should be allowed full opportunity to show what he can do.
By announcing it anytime now, this would only take away from the important treble treble final.
Fans just need to be that wee bit more patient and trust the suits to pick that right man.
