Former Celtic star Ramon Vega has claimed that there was somebody else at Celtic that could be considered as one of the world’s best players.
Vega was with the Hoops during the second half of the 2000/01 campaign after signing on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
He was there for Martin O’Neill’s first season in charge as the Bhoys beat Rangers to the title after losing out to them by 21 points the previous year.
That squad was packed with talent, including Henrik Larsson, but there was another star that caught Vega’s eye in that time.

Ramon Vega hails Lubomir Moravcik
As well as Larsson, another star in that Celtic squad was Lubomir Moravcik.
The Slovakian midfielder was technically gifted and crucial in helping the Hoops win two Scottish Premiership titles.
Moravcik and Larsson were a formidable duo, and Vega believes that he was one of the best players in the world.
During his appearance on the Stick to Football podcast, Larsson said Moravcik was the best player he played with, and Vega agreed.
“Absolutely massive player!!! Lubo’s skills were without a doubt among the top players in the world!!! It was a pleasure to play alongside him at Celtic. What a team we had to win the first Treble!!!” he tweeted,
Ramon Vega wanted to stay at Celtic forever
Despite his time at Celtic being short but sweet, the impact the club left on the defender is still evident.
You can find him regularly tweeting about Celtic, and had he received a permanent offer from the Hoops, he’d have stayed with the Hoops.
He told World Football Index in 2021: “The supporters of Celtic are the best in the world in my opinion and I’ll never forget my time at the club.

“I loved living in Glasgow. It is a pure football city like nowhere else I’ve lived. Martin O’Neill always ensured that we handled the intensity of the city by being a calming influence when we needed him to be.
“Unfortunately, my time ended after one season, which is something that saddens me. I would love to have stayed at Celtic but an offer was never put on the table for me.”
