Rapid Vienna say they are expecting bids for Celtic linked Boli Mbombo this summer.

The Daily Mail recently reported that the left-back was on Celtic’s shopping list as a potential replacement for Kieran Tierney. They say that Neil Lennon’s men are weighing up a £3million move for the 23-year-old.

And now a representative from the Austrian outfit has spoken out on the speculation surrounding the player.

What has been said?

The Scottish Sun have some quotes from Rapid sports director Zoran Barisic.

He said: “There have been enquiries for Boli, but no offers so far.

“But we know there will be concrete offers soon.”

Potential Tierney replacments

Replacing Kieran Tierney is going to be no easy task for Celtic. The defender has been our first (and only real) option at left-back over the past four seasons. There have been a number of back-up options but the truth is that there’s nobody waiting to step into his shoes.

The club have been linked with the likes of Greg Taylor, Max Lowe and Mbombo over the past few days and speculation will only heighten as Tierney gets closer to the exit door.

Celtic need two players in the position so should look for a ready-made first choice like Mbombo as well as a future talent like Taylor. The Kilmarnock man shares a lot of Tierney’s attributes but would perhaps be seen as too cheap an option as a replacement.

It promises to be an interesting summer in the full-back areas for the club – both incoming and outgoing.
