Celtic supporters will hold frustrations over an uninspiring January transfer window that didn’t provide the reinforcements many wanted to arrive.
As we all know, Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah have come in and have since gone on to play their part; however, it was what didn’t happen that continues to rankle among the Parkhead faithful.
Earlier this week, former Hoops man Joe Ledley signalled his belief that Brendan Rodgers hadn’t been given the squad he would’ve desired since returning to Glasgow’s east end.
The ex-Wales international stated: “You look at Brendan Rodgers’ record at Celtic, what he’s achieved is remarkable. At the moment, it’s probably not the team he wants, and hopefully, he will have other transfer windows to bring other players in. But Brendan can still do this.”
Of course, Rodgers will still feel he can bring a domestic double back to the trophy room this term; however, there is no margin for error, given that the Bhoys are five points behind with a game to spare in the Scottish Premiership.
Motherwell pose a tough challenge for the reigning champions at Fir Park tomorrow. Whether Celtic can come through unscathed will go a long way to determining if this side has the legs needed to go the distance in the title race.
Andy Walker can’t understand why Celtic have taken ‘gamble’
Ex-Celtic striker Andy Walker is perplexed why his old club didn’t look to bring in further reinforcements in January, labelling the decision not to bolster the ranks further as a ‘gamble’ in the aftermath of the results of the club’s interim report entering the public domain.
Walker stated [Go Radio Football Show]: “I don’t think it will wash. I think Celtic had a month to realise first and foremost that Rangers were improving. They’ve got a manager that has made some remarkable strides in terms of improving individual players and as a team.

“Results are getting better and for too long now Celtic’s form, play and standard of football has not been a joy to watch.
“You take these things to one side, of course Celtic have been well run for a number of years. The player trading model has been hugely successful and no one would deny that.
“But why are you taking a gamble on not strengthening with one or two players of some pedigree knowing that Rangers are improving and giving yourself the best possible chance to get this very important title, given what is at stake at the end of it.”
Undoubtedly, the Hoops didn’t do enough in the mid-season window to satisfy demands, with the situation at left-back gaining an extended airing due to no reinforcements being acquired.
Regardless, we are where we are and need to go all out to ensure a morale-boosting victory is achieved against Motherwell tomorrow.
