Celtic will receive a further £2m for the transfer of Ryan Christie if Bournemouth gain promotion to the English Premier League this season, The Sun on Sunday reported over the weekend. [03/10 print edition, page 61]

The Bhoys have already landed a £2.5m fee for the attacking midfielder, who had less than six months left on his contract at the time of his departure.

However, that could be almost doubled with a successful Cherries campaign. Christie’s side currently sit top of the English Championship after 11 matches.

The report states that Celtic would receive even more money if Bournemouth stay in the league once they are promoted.

Christie has been in excellent form for Bournemouth since his moving, assisting three times in six appearances and earning rave reviews from his new fans.

His absence has been a blow to the strength of the Celtic squad, but a fee in the region of an eventual £5m isn’t bad at all for a player who was set to walk out the door for nothing.

With Jota in the door and performing well on the left flank, we hopefully won’t miss him too much over the course of the entire campaign.

So, there’s your reason to look out for Bournemouth results this season as they challenge the likes of West Brom and Fulham for automatic promotion.

A former Celtic player doing well and a few more million in the Celtic kitty sounds good to me.
