Arsenal are planning on making a summer swoop for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, according to a report.

The Mirror claims that the Premier League side are planning to sell midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan to help fund four new signings.

One of those players is Tierney, who the report claims that Arsenal boss Unai Emery has ‘in his sights’.

No surprise at Premier League interest

There could be a lot more stories regarding Tierney’s future in the weeks and months to come. The player has once again been a stand-out performer for the Hoops this season, so it is no surprise that there is interest in the player.

The Hoops surely won’t be thinking about selling the player at the moment though. There are still issues to be resolved at Celtic, such as appointing the new manager, before the board even thinks about buying and selling players.

Another issue to take into account is would the player want to leave Celtic at the moment? It is well-known that he is a Celtic fanatic, and it is unlikely he would want to leave with the Hoops only two title away from 10 in a row.

If the Hoops do deicide to cash in on Tierney, they will be looking for big money for the player. At minimum £25 million. That might seem like a lot of money, but it’s the going rate for players in England.

Hopefully Tierney will still be at Celtic for years to come. But it is slightly ominous that a top Premier League side are interested in the player.
