Leicester City’s potential pursuit of Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney has reportedly taken a further twist.
The Celtic left-back could be a potential option for Leicester this summer, but as of yet nothing concrete has been reported.
And that’s apparently because Brendan Rodgers will only make a move for Tierney if Ben Chilwell leaves, according to TeamTalk. The current Leicester left-back has been the source of speculation about a potential move to Man City for weeks (Daily Express).

As of yet, there have been no bids reported for the Leicester man either. And that bodes well for Celtic when trying to keep a hold of our own number one left-back.
Rodgers has recently been bigging up the quality of the Celtic players ahead of the summer transfer window (Daily Record). That easily opens itself up to interpretation. Rodgers making a move for some of our best players would hardly be a surprise – he knows what they’re all about.
Tierney bid dependent on Chilwell future
You’ve also got to imagine that any bid from Leicester for Tierney will be seriously tempting. After all, Rodgers knows the state of play up here and how much Celtic will value him at. It would be substantial, and therefore could surely turn the head of Peter Lawwell.

But it’s good to see that Rodgers is planning on keeping Chilwell instead. If he manages to do that, then it looks as though we’ll avoid any sudden departure of our left-back to Leicester.
At the moment, Tierney is recovering from double-hernia surgery. A tough year in which he was in and out of the team with injury has hopefully been put behind him.

Celtic are also in the driving seat if any offers come in for their left-back too. It was only back in 2017 when Tierney signed a new six-year deal at Parkhead. He’s here until the summer of 2023 unless Celtic say otherwise – meaning we hold all of the aces in any transfer talks.
But the good news is Rodgers apparently plans to keep Chilwell as opposed to selling him and moving for our man. At the very least, that’s an early bonus this summer if true.
