Celtic have hired recruitment firm Nolan Partners to help assemble appropriate candidates for a new Director of Football, the Daily Mail reports.
The Mail believes that Celtic are indeed in the market for DoF as they look to overhaul the football operations next season.
As things currently stand, the Hoops have Neil Lennon as manager with Nicky Hammond in charge of football operations. However, it looks as though that could be set for a sweeping change come the summer time.
The newspaper also provides three candidates who could be in the running for the new gig. Juventus scout Matteo Tognozzi is in the running, whilst former Bournemouth recruitment chief David Webb apparently wants to be considered.
Finally, Fergal Harkin – Manchester City’s current loan manager – is said to be well-known to Celtic and is also being considered.
Clearest indication yet that Celtic is set for major change as candidates line-up
The Director of Football role is something that has been implemented across European football with increasing regularity over the last few years.
It’s proven to be a successful avenue for many clubs across the continent. Paolo Maldini at AC Milan looks like turning their fortunes around this season. Txiki Begiristain has been pulling the strings at Manchester City too.
Luis Campos at Lille has helped bring in talent and sell for big money later down the line. Marc Overmars’ performance at Ajax was also a key reason they made the Champions League semi-finals two years ago.

So many successful Euro clubs have utilised this structure. There’s no reason for Celtic not to go down that route given events over the last few years.
As bad as our decision-making has been this season, you can stretch the decline of this team back to when Brendan Rodgers departed and took half the management team with him. It effectively decimated this football club, ith our long-term vision seemingly scrapped.
Having a Director of Football allows for consistency. It allows the club’s long-term vision to remain in place. Therefore, i minimises the destruction caused by managerial departures such as Rodgers’. Hopefully, this is something Celtic do indeed chase up.
In other news, the Celtic fans have urged Lennon to stop doing something during his post-match interviews.
