Celtic are expected to make their largest offer yet for Charlton full-back Alfie Doughty this week, Sky Sports reports.
The Hoops have already had two bids for the player knocked back by Charlton. Now it seems that the Hoops are set to make another move for the player, before the transfer window closes on Monday.
However, Charlton don’t seem in any mood to sell. A report from London News Online just yesterday featured comments from Charlton boss Lee Bowyer, who claimed that the London club ‘don’t have to sell anyone’ after their recent takeover by Thomas Sandgaard.
Interesting to see just how much Hoops offer
It remains to seen if Charlton’s stance softens in the face of Celtic’s largest bid yet for the player. It will be interesting to see just how much money it will take to sign the player.

Would £1m do the trick? You would think so. However, Celtic might not want to pay that much money for a player who will be out of contract at the end of the season.
However, the Hoops do seem determined to try and sign the player before the transfer window comes to a close. That will be why the club is set to make its biggest offer yet for the player.
Badly in need of another left-back
Celtic are in need of a left-back so the move for Doughty does make sense. The Hoops need a player to challenge Greg Taylor, who is at the moment the only natural left-back at the club.

That needs to change before the transfer window slams shut. However, Charlton will no doubt be a tough nut to crack. They will not want to sell Doughty under any circumstances.
Indeed, they might see it as a victory if a League One side can stop the Scottish Champions from signing one of their players.
We shall find out over the next week if Celtic can manage to land Doughty. It hasn’t been for the want of trying.
In other news, Mohamed Elyounoussi has been impressed by Ismaila Soro.
