Report: Celtic eyeing up George Baldock with Sheffield Utd making personnel changes
Celtic are looking at the possibility of signing Sheffield United right-back George Baldock this summer, according to the Daily Record.
Baldock was first linked with the Hoops back in the summer of 2019 [Daily Mail]. However, the player decided to stay with The Blades and try his hand at Premier League football.
United would suffer a dismal season last term however as the absence of supporters rocked their performance levels. And now the Record believes Celtic have him on high up on a list of potential right-back targets.
The newspaper says that any possibility of a transfer may depend on the valuation placed on him by United. After all, Baldock did sign a new deal back in December that committed him to the club until 2024.
It’s also been reported by the Record that Sheffield may need to make personnel alternations to their squad after their demotion to the Championship. This could see the door open for Celtic to sign Baldock.
Attacking, aggressive, and committed; Celtic should go all out to sign George Baldock

Granted, he only managed two assists last term. That’s half of what he bagged in his debut season in England’s top flight. However, he was one of the bright spots – something that was reflected in him being given a new deal.
Of course, Sheffield will surely be tempted to keep hold of as many key players as they can. Just because they’ve been demoted doesn’t mean that there’ll be a fire sale. Celtic will still have to splash out if they want to secure Baldock.
However, he’s proven himself to be the kind of full-back Celtic fans love to see at Parkhead. He has a terrific engine on him and is a solid one-v-one defender. Given the dominance Celtic have in Scotland, he could cause real damage to Premiership defences.
As of right now, Celtic only have Anthony Ralston and Lee O’Connor in their ranks. Given the latter is yet to prove himself, new boss Ange Postecoglou could be forced to go with the former.
Baldock would be a major upgrade on them both. And with Celtic said to be closing in on the signing of Hajduk Split’s Mario Vuskovic [Sportske Novosti], this could be the perfect
