Timothy Weah’s departure from PSG looks extremely likely this summer, according to RMC via French Football News.
The USA international only left Celtic two days ago. That came after being called up for the USA under-20 squad for the World Cup this summer. Weah said that Neil Lennon told him it was best for him to leave now, as opposed to after the Rangers game today.
His future now remains intriguing. There’s no denying that Celtic fans would likely want a move to be made for him this summer. Unfortunately, however, it looks as though they’re going to have some real competition.
PSG are reportedly looking set to SELL Weah this summer. That comes despite signing a new contract just days before arriving at Parkhead in January.
Premier League outfit Crystal Palace are apparently in the mix alongside French Ligue 1 club Rennes. A third unnamed club is also in the mix. For all anyone knows, it could even be Celtic.
Celtic shouldn’t give up on Weah this summer
It says a lot about the talent of Weah that he managed just four starts in 17 outings, yet still made a big impression.
Every time he was substituted onto the pitch, he would light things up for Celtic. He managed just four goals during his time in Glasgow, but that was more to do with his lack of game-time than a lack of quality.
Neil Lennon only gave Weah two starts during his time in Scotland. He even managed to start in last weekend’s 3-0 title romp at Pittodrie. He didn’t overly impress, but on most occasions he has done.
Celtic could do a lot worse than test the waters for the PSG wonderkid this summer too. He sent out a message on his Instagram that stated that he hoped to one day return to Parkhead. He made no indication of when that would be, however, declaring that he didn’t know what the future would hold.
But if PSG aren’t keen on keeping the youngster, Celtic should give it a go to seal a permanent move this summer. Could we afford it? Who knows, no valuation has yet been revealed for him. But it seems a waste to let him leave unchallenged.
