Celtic are keeping tabs on Shamrock Rovers striker Aidomo Emakhu, according to the Irish Sun.

The youngster is said to be the subject of interest from EPL and Serie A clubs too. The report claims that Wolves, Southampton, Roma, and Leece are all monitoring the forward.

It’s stated by the Sun that Emakhu is seen as raw talent packed with potential. The link comes after a year in which the 18-year-old managed an impressive 27 appearances in a breakthrough campaign [Transfermarkt].

Emakhu also has experience of international football at under-19 level. He netted on his debut for Ireland against Sweden back in October and has netted 2 goals for Rovers since his debut last May. Emakhu can also play as a left-winger too, showing good versatility.

However, most of the youngster’s appearances have come from the bench. He’s yet to solidify his spot in the Shamrock starting XI, with only 4 of his outings coming as a starter.

Celtic have shown a recent desire to plunder the League of Ireland, with Liam Scales and Johnny Kenny both arriving from Shamrock and Sligo Rovers respectively over the last year.

Celtic continue to look for stars of the future in ROI

It’s clear that Emakhu wouldn’t be the type of signing that comes straight into Parkhead and starts challenging for the starting XI. On the contrary, it looks like the kind of profile that would suit the B team.

Ange Postecoglou has already shown himself to be big on youth investment. As many as 6 young Celtic B talents were given their first-team debuts last season. That automatically makes the club a more attractive prospect for those who are looking to move to the next level of their development.

Emakhu, of course, could see himself wanting to remain at Shamrock and establish himself in the starting XI there first. He’ll want to continue gaining regular minutes at a senior level in order to bolster not only his technical development but his physical traits too.

That’s why inclusion into the Lowland League is so important for Celtic. It provides their B team with the opportunity to play in a competitive environment against men. It’s already proven to be a success for them, and they’ll be hoping to be granted inclusion once again next season.

Whether Emakhu will be a part of that remains to be seen. He certainly has a big decision on his hands if any of the interested parties decide to make an official offer.

For now, however, the ROI under-19 international will simply be focusing on making an impact with Rovers in the coming weeks.
