Celtic are not interested in bringing West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass to Parkhead, according to the Scottish Sun.

The Daily Record reported yesterday that the Hoops are looking at Snodgrass as a potential loan deal. This comes after the Scotland international has struggled to get regular game-time under David Moyes this summer.

However, the Sun believes that Celtic haven’t made any enquiries for Snodgrass, who would potentially have helped provide more competition down the right side.

The Sun also says that Neil Lennon is focusing mainly on providing competition for Greg Taylor down the left side. That appears to be Celtic’s main goal as we look to end the transfer window in style today.

Clyde 1 journalist Alison Conroy also backed this up yesterday. She tweeted that the Hoops have no real interest in bringing Snodgrass back up to Scotland.

A right-winger could still be an option today

There have been so many different reports on how many Celtic are looking to bring in. Whilst the Sun and Conroy believe that we’re only looking at one area, Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph tweeted yesterday that we’re after three more signings before the window closes at midnight.

Snodgrass undoubtedly could’ve been an asset to Celtic. With over 300 appearances in both the Premier League and the Championship, he would’ve arrived at Parkhead with a wealth of experience (Transfermarkt).

The winger once spoke back in 2015 about his love for the Hoops after growing up a Celtic supporter. As quoted by the Daily Record, Snodgrass said: “The first thing I remember was going up to Celtic Park to watch Celtic, feeling the full effect of the stadium. When you see the players on the park for the first time, you get sucked in and it’s like a dream.”

But regardless, it looks like we’re going to have to put a cross through this idea for now. Even though a right-winger would still be ideal, you can understand why the Hoops would maybe be more inclined to try and get a deal done for another left wing-back.

Yet with James Forrest out for the long-term, it may be wise to bring another wide man in down the other side.

In other news, a Celtic-linked defender’s agent has admitted his player’s future remains uncertain.
