Brendan Rodgers is on the verge of accepting the position of Celtic manager for the second time in his career.
The Scottish Sun reports that a fresh round of talks today have been positive. It’s said Dermot Desmond and Peter Lawwell are increasingly confident his final decision on succeeding Ange Postecoglou will be a yes.
Postecoglou left to join Tottenham Hotspur last week and it seems the Bhoys’ quick action will see a manager installed within a fortnight of that departure.
Rodgers exited Celtic under a cloud back in 2019, joining Leicester City mid-season as his side were pushing for a third successive treble. That soured him to many supporters and undoubtedly there will be some not happy to see him back in Glasgow.
However, it’s become clear over the last few days that many will welcome him back to Paradise, understanding that his credentials as a manager are excellent.
From those available on the market to Celtic, Rodgers is undoubtedly one of the biggest names we could bring in. It’ll be a box office appointment, no doubt.

Rodgers had two fifth-placed finishes with Leicester City in the English Premier League after leaving the Bhoys. He also won the FA Cup, which was a superb achievement. The 2022/23 campaign went pear-shaped, but Celtic will be confident that he can find magic again with the Hoops.
The Irishman won seven trophies from seven last time he was in charge, including an unprecedented Invincible Treble in the 2016/17 campaign.
Nobody will be getting carried away with Rodgers this time around, in terms of him becoming an icon with fans, but if he can carry on this incredible run of success at the club, nobody will be questioning his appointment.
