After Leeds United made the decision to sack head coach Jesse Marsch, it came as no surprise to Celtic supporters to see Ange Postecoglou linked with the role.

The 57-year-old has worked wonders at Parkhead during his 18 months in Glasgow, leading the Bhoys to league and cup success last campaign.

And the Hoops have continued their impressive improvement in the 2022/23 season, suffering just one defeat on the domestic front.

Following Postecoglou’s success, links to other jobs have become almost inevitable, particularly in the English Premier League.

Each time a new manager has been sacked, whether that be at clubs such as Wolves or Brighton, the Celtic manager’s name seems to have propped up as a potential option.

The latest club to reportedly be considering Ange Postecoglou was Leeds United, following the sacking of one-time Celtic-linked manager Jesse Marsch.

There doesn’t appear to have been too much in the links other than the fact Leeds sees the former Socceroos boss as a potential candidate, which makes sense after doing such a brilliant job at Celtic.

But we have seen the usual debate from pundits down south, discussing who are a bigger club and whether Ange would choose to move to the English Premier League.

Although we don’t know for 100% certain what the Celtic boss would be thinking, supporters feel as though they have a good idea, and a late-night report suggests that the club hierarchy does too.

According to a report from the Daily Record, the Celtic board ‘remain confident’ that Ange Postecoglou won’t leave the club in the lurch for Leeds United, despite the recent links.

The report states that no contact has been made between the Leeds and Celtic boards to ask for permission to speak to Postecoglou as of late Tuesday afternoon.

The Bhoys hierarchy believes that the Celtic boss is ‘happy, motivated and completely committed’ to the role at Parkhead and leading the side to further trophy success.

The ex-Yokohama F Marinos man has struck up a fantastic relationship with the support, and many fans believe that both parties are the perfect match.

So to leave midway through his second season would arguably come as a surprise if he was to make a move to relegation-threatened Leeds.

At this moment in time, these links between Leeds and Postecoglou are very brief, and there has been no suggestion that they will even approach the Hoops.

Of course, at one stage, there will come a time when Ange Postecoglou leaves Celtic, and that is likely to take a role south of the border.

However, like many others, I don’t believe that time is now, and the Celtic manager still has plenty of aspirations on the domestic and European front at Parkhead.
