Reported Celtic target Robin Olsen is no longer training with his AS Roma team-mates, as per a report from Calcio Mercato.
The Italian outlet posted a brief transfer update on Thursday, saying that Olsen was not training with the rest of the Roma group at present.
The Swedish goalkeeper spent last season on loan at Cagliari and was Roma’s number one the previous season.
But he clearly doesn’t have much of a future in the Italian capital, while Celtic were interested this summer.
As we told you around a month ago, we wanted to bring in Olsen on loan this season, and had planned to pay 50% of his wages.
Given that the keeper is so far out of the picture at present – should we now return with another offer?
Olsen is still a regular for Sweden
Already this summer, we’ve signed Vasilis Barkas for big money from AEK Athens.
He was a replacement for Fraser Forster, but many would argue that we’re still to bring in a substitute for Craig Gordon.
Olsen may be far out of the picture at Roma, but he’s still Sweden’s number one – and played both of their Nations League matches earlier this month.
Would a bit of extra competition for Barkas be a bad thing at all?
One thing is for sure – Olsen doesn’t have a future at Roma. That should make them keen to listen to offers.
It’s not often that a Sweden international comes on the market for a low fee. Even in nets.
