Celtic striker Albian Ajeti expects to be fit and raring to go for the Glasgow derby next month, the Scottish Sun reports.

The attacker, who went off during the recent 3-0 win over Hibernian with a hamstring problem, is confident he will be able for the game after two-weeks of hamstring treatment.

Ajeti, who has had an excellent start to his Hoops career, scoring five goals, will miss Switzerland’s games over the international break as he focuses on getting back to full fitness.

A real boost if player is available

It goes without saying that it would be a real boost for Celtic if Ajeti was fit for the derby. Already in his short time with the club he has shown that he knows where the back of the net is.

Ajeti looks like he could be a prolific goalscorer for the Hoops this season. He has the ability to be in the right place in the right time to find the back of the net.

That was shown most recently in his goal against Hibernian. He was on hand to take advantage of the goalkeeper spilling the ball to fire the rebound into the net.

It is a bit of a pity that the player will miss the games against Sarajevo and St Johnstone. However, the Hoops should have the firepower to win those games without Ajeti.

Manager will be playing close attention to fitness battle

Neil Lennon will be paying close attention to Ajeti’s battle to get fit for the derby. He will not feature the player unless he is 100% fit. It might be that the best Ajeti can hope for is a place on the bench.

However, he could more than contribute in that role. If Celtic are looking for a goal, Ajeti is just the man to provide one.

Only time will tell if Ajeti can make the Glasgow derby. However, just imagine the reaction from the Celtic support if he is able to make the starting line-up. It would be sheer joy.
