Ciro Immobile’s position tonight will reportedly be on the bench for Lazio against Celtic.

According to highly-respected Italian source Gazzetta dello Sport, that’s how the Serie A side are set to shape up tonight.

The Italian international has frequently been benched whenever Simone Inzaghi has looked to rotate his side. What it means, according to Gazzetta, is that Joaquin Correa and Felipe Caicedo will start tonight instead.

The news also pretty much confirms how Lazio views this match tonight. If Immobile isn’t playing, it perhaps backs up the idea that the Europa League isn’t a top priority for them.

However, Gazzetta also claim that Sergej Milinkovic-Savic will start the game too. Gazzetta believes that Luiz Alberto will miss tonight’s contest as well. The attacking-midfielder is Lazio’s best attacking influence, but he hasn’t been named by the source when they listed players who were set to start the game.

Celtic’s starting XI, of course, won’t be confirmed until an hour or so ahead of kick-off at Parkhead tonight.

Neil Lennon won’t take too much notice

Knowing who’s going to start up top for Lazio tonight could be a boost for Neil Lennon. However, if we’re all being serious with ourselves, it’s not something he’s going to get too caught up in.

There’s a general acceptance that whoever Lazio feature tonight will provide us a tough test. It’s also worth taking into account that Immobile will still be on the bench. According to the source, he hasn’t been dropped out of the squad completely.

This also backs up the Daily Record’s claim a couple of days ago. They stated that how Lazio trained leading up to tonight suggested they would start with Immobile on the bench.

The striker scored the winner against Rennes in their last Europa League match. However, Celtic must be wary of the threat he can still pose should he come on.

Celtic will hope to make it seven points out of a possible nine in the Europa League tonight. Another victory puts Lennon’s side in a stunning position.

But it’s going to take a real proper performance to see off the Serie A top seeds. Hopefully, it’s going to be yet another night of celebration.
